Born February 15, 1944 in Curwensville, he was the son of Robert E. Sr. and Mary Etta (Passmore) Bowery. Mr. Bowery was retired from N.A.R.C.O. after 30 years of service as a laborer and mechanic.
He was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church, a life member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., a member of Curwensville Noble Lodge #480 F. & A.M., a member of the Curwensville L.O.O.M. Family Center #268 and a member of the Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Association.
On January 29, 1965 he wed the former Sandra Ella “Sandy” Clark who survives along with two daughters Jamie Sue Smith of Williamsburg and Jo-Anna Lea McClure and husband David of Curwensville.
Also surviving are four grandchildren Erika Leigey, Nathaniel McClure, Aspen Smith and Saxton Smith, a sister Margaret “Sis” Shirey and husband Richard of Loganton and three sisters-in-law: Barbara Lingle of Clearfield, Moneice VanEgdom of AZ and Marlene Clark of Treasure Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Kathi Bowery.
Funeral Services for Robert E. Bowery Jr. will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday July 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Ethan Shearer officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday July 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM. Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted by members of Noble Lodge #480 F. & A.M. Sunday at 4:00 P.M. and a Fireman’s Memorial Services will be conducted by members of the Curwensville R. H. & L. Co. Sunday at 6:00 PM.
