Terry united in marriage to Elizabeth Irene O'Connor on November 29, 1959 lasting 54 years until her death on June 14, 2014.
Mr. O'Connor retired from Department of Public Assistance after 35 years of service in many capacities and culminating with involvement in the Disability Advocacy Program. Terry's passion and commitment in human, ecological and political matters provided platforms for him to make a difference. Serving on several mental health boards as counselor, advisor and mentor, he sought to relieve human suffering and well as to understand human nature. Environmental issues, including but not limited to, Senior Environmental Corps, watersheds, land restorations, mine reclamation, archeological education and more were issues for which he sought to contribute for balance and understanding toward the future. Politics was an avenue for which Terry assisted others and advocated for multiple issues. Terry was President of Bilger’s Rock for many years and was instrumental and influential in bringing forth the informational and educational facility located on the premises.
He is survived by three sons; Chris J. of Indiana; Terry Jr. of Olanta, Brett M. of Clearfield, two daughters; Jamie and husband Duane and daughter, Lori and husband Bob; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Irene; and a granddaughter, BethAnn Marie.
Funeral Services for Terry O’Connor will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday October 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Stephen D. Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Olanta.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Sunday October 3, 2021 from 6 to 8:00 PM, and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
