Obituary for Viola Elizabeth Rowles
Viola E. Rowles 95, of Olanta, passed away Thursday June 28, 2018 at her residence.
Born March 8, 1923 in Berwinsdale, she was the daughter of Nelson V. and Ruby M. (Wiley) Hunter. She was a homemaker and was also employed at the former Sylvania Products for 6 years and Superior Pet Products for 19 years.
She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she taught sunday school, and was the church pianist for over 7 decades. She also sang multiple duets with her eldest son Forrest Rowles.
She is survived by 3 children Forrest D. Rowles and his wife Eloisa, Roger L. Rowles and his companion Gwendolyn Ott, and Clifford Rowles and his wife Edith. 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was the last member of her generation.
She wed David Abraham Rowles on July 17, 1939 in Clearfield who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents, a son Leif Rowles, a sister Jennie Rowles, and brothers John, Clarence, and Lee Hunter, and an infant brother Mervin Hunter.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Rowles will be held on Sunday July 1, 2018 at 2 PM at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville with the Reverend Louis Stubbs officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Olanta.
Friends will be received at the funeral home, in Curwensville on Sunday July 1, from 1 PM till the time of services at 2 PM.
