Obituary for W. Monroe Bloom
W. Monroe Bloom 67, of Curwensville passed away Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born October 3, 1942 in Clearfield, he was the son of Ansel and Caroline (Williams) Bloom. Mr. Bloom was retired from North American Refractories Co. in Curwensville, was a member of the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 842, the Curwensville American Legion Post # 505, and the Curwensville Noble Lodge #480 F. & A.M.
On August 26, 1978 at the Oak Ridge Union Church he wed the former Jean McGary who survives along with 4 sons, Michael M. Bloom and his wife Marge of Grampian, Randolph S. Bloom and his wife Deb of Curwensville, Timothy A. Bloom and his wife Brenda of Grampian, Jamie L. Bloom and his fiancee Crystal Smith of Houtzdale, and stepson Ronald Pollick Jr. and his wife Melissa of Olanta.
Also surviving is are 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother Gordon Bloom and his wife Jean of Curwensville and a sister Verna Clare Eshelman and her husband Thomas of Utah, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Norma Cramer, and a stepdaughter Maryann Pollick
A public visitation will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Saturday October 17, 2009 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Bloom will be held at the Susquehanna Community Church 503 Filbert St. Curwensville on Saturday October 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Lowell MacDonald, officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Susquehanna Community Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
